Canadian rapper Drake is on everyone's lips, literally.

American fashion designer Tom Ford has released his second annual Lips & Boys lipstick collection and the shade inspired by the Hotline Bling rapper has sold out within minutes.

"My mom bought all of them. Hey Ma," Drake joked on Instagram.

It retails at $US35 ($NZ51) a pop in the US, but the sold-out shade is being resold on eBay for $US118 ($NZ118).

Ford's 50-shade collection contains 25 classics and 25 new colours inspired by men in the designer's life.

Drake got a nod with a metallic violet shade and actor Jake Gyllenhaal inspired the metallic corals shade.

Both stars have an affiliation with Ford. Drake's song Tuscan Leather is an ode to Ford's designer cologne, while Gyllenhaal will star in Ford's new flick Nocturnal Animals and stepped out in a Tom Ford suit at the Hollywood Film Awards in November.

Advertisements for the lipstick collection show men and women with brightly-painted lips.

"I love seeing a woman in a man's suit. Why not have a lipstick named after a man?" Ford said on Twitter.
